I love travelling
Last year I made it my goal to travel more around the country that I live in. Kenya is so diverse and beautiful and I feel like so many of us that live in Nairobi often go to the same places and do the same things instead of trying something new...
At the beginning of last year my best friend and I took a trip to Lake Magadi. Along the way we were flagged down by a beautiful old Masai woman who begged us to take her water containers to the lake with us and fill them up for her.
The village was suffering due to the drought and they had no access to clean water.
Since then I've been back to visit her and her lovely family 3 times. They welcome us with open hearts and I feel blessed to be able to have this experience.
The last time I went I stayed for 2 nights, lay under the stars, bathed in the trickle of a stream and laughed for hours on end.
What I've learned from the Masai is generosity. Every time I take them something they share it around even it's something small and make sure everyone is involved. I want to be more like that in life.
I urge all you Nairobians to explore Kenya more because there is so much beauty on our doorsteps.
A few weeks ago my good friend and fellow photographer Reece McMillan and I took a trip to Kitengela Hot Glass.
Having grown up on Masai Lodge road, across the gorge from the glass blowing centre, I had been to visit many times but had seen the step-by-step process of how the items are made.
I was fascinated by how quick and efficient the workers were and amazed by the process of a hot blob of glass on the end of a rod, almost magically becoming a beautiful bowl or a wine glass!
Below are some of the images that I took, Enjoy.
Dreaming of summer.
It's always a joy staying at the Kings Landing...
Shoutout to my wonderful sister Jasmine for letting me get some portraits in!
I've been lucky enough to attend 2 of the free art workshops that Fitsum Berhe and Honey from the Moon are hosting. Its the perfect way to spend a Saturday morning, sipping on Ethiopian coffee, making new friends and getting tips from the master himself Fitsum! I've always loved drawing but never seem to take time out to do it at home, so this has been such a joy.
Don't worry you haven't missed it, there's on more workshop happening this Saturday (10th June).
